Manly2015 could entice high-end fashion stores to Manly’s under-utilised laneways

The Manly 2015 Master Plan was discussed at the Manly Chamber of Commerce Stakeholder meeting on Wednesday 7th May, with a number of ideas for upgrading Manly’s CBD including:

  • The removal of the Whistler Street Carpark to create a vibrant Village Centre after relocating parking to Manly’s gateway below the Manly Oval
  • A ‘park and float’ public transport system
  • Revitalising and activating Manly’s many laneways and public spaces

Manly 2015 could entice high-end fashion stores to Manly’s under-utilised laneways. Martin Hill comments in the Manly Daily “From a local perspective, people say it lacks the ‘Double Bay feel’ with high-end fashion and cafes,” he said. “When Surfection first opened its redevelopment on the Corso, we were amazed. When the Manly Hotel was redeveloped, it changed the atmosphere. We know what’s possible here, and when you look at the plans for these laneway precincts, it could be very high end.”   View Manly Daily article>
