Sydney Olympic Park
Masterplan
In the spirit of the Olympic legacy, HillPDA worked extensively with the Sydney Olympic Park Authority (SOPA) following the 2000 Olympic and Paralympic Games to ensure the Park’s success as an economically viable, socially and culturally attractive place to live, work and invest.
The majority of HillPDA’s work has related to understanding the long-term benefits that can be derived from the world class sport, entertainment, health and recreation facilities that are the Park’s legacy from the 2000 Games. HillPDA has also sought to realise a mix of uses in the Park adding to its vitality and ensuring that SOPA’s 2030 Masterplan was based on a robust set of economic assumptions.
The 2030 Masterplan will shape the future of the Park and allow for its continued development designed to accommodate a population of 30,000 workers, 14,000 residents and 5,000 students, while maintaining its major event capabilities and 430ha of parklands.
Sydney Olympic Park Masterplan 2025 (SOPA 2003)
HillPDA was commissioned to provide specialist consultancy advice in the process of establishing an integrated vision plan for the redevelopment of Sydney Olympic Park to the year 2025. Our purpose was specifically directed towards the economic viability of the vision plan including research on economics and opportunities, determination of appropriate land use, market demand and supply analysis and modelling of masterplan options.
Sydney Olympic Park Masterplan 2025 Review and Testing (SOPA 2007)
HillPDA joined a working group whose aim was to review and amend the existing Masterplan. Issues with regards to viability of the existing Masterplan lead to its revision, particularly around the town centre site. In this regard, HillPDA undertook retail demand analysis, feasibility testing of key sites, leasehold versus freehold modelling, and a market demand assessment for future potential land uses. HillPDA also provided economic input into the review of the infrastructure funding plan, including the modelling of different funding mechanisms.
Sydney Olympic Park Masterplan 2030 – 5 Year Review (SOPA 2015)
HillPDA was commissioned to undertake development feasibility testing and land use demand forecasting as part of a periodic review of the Sydney Olympic Park Masterplan 2030. This research has informed the Masterplan revision process. The 2030 Masterplan is subject to five year reviews which require consideration of current market conditions and changes in broader policy to land use and planning.
