Pitt Street Retail Modification
Development Application
HillPDA was engaged by a private client to lead a modification of a development consent for the refurbishment and fitout of several high-end retail tenancies.
The project focused on the installation of above-awning signage, with previous modifications unable to secure support for the desired signage outcome. The approved signage was unsatisfactory due to size requirements.
A quick approval was required as the development was largely constructed and awaiting final approval for signage.
HillPDA facilitated consultation with client and City of Sydney Council to identify and understand the required signage components and design issues associated with the signage.
HillPDA assisted with the development of a compromise position that satisfied the client, landowner and Council. By understanding the position of all parties, the compromise position was able to avoid Council’s concerns while also being largely in line with the client’s original expectations.
Outcome
HillPDA prepared a modification application and statement of environmental effects that outlined the issues with the approved signage, the proposed compromise signage, and an assessment of the proposed signage.
The modification application was approved by Council within a month of lodgement.
Consultation, design, assessment and approval of the modification was completed within three months of engagement.
