Ingleburn CBD

Social Infrastructure Assessment

Campbelltown City Council required a Social Infrastructure Assessment to be prepared to support a Planning Proposal for part of Ingleburn CBD. The Planning Proposal sought to allow for higher density residential and commercial development.

HillPDA assessed the area’s needs in terms of passive and active open spaces, community centres, and libraries. The potential impacts of the Planning Proposal were considered, as were currently planned open space developments and enhancements.

Key elements of the study included:

  • Conducting a review of relevant State and local government policies
  • Analysing current and future population trends
  • Undertaking an audit of open spaces, libraries, and community centres throughout the district
  • Projecting future infrastructure needs.

Project outcome

HillPDA concluded from the Social Infrastructure Assessment that there would be sufficient social infrastructure at a variety of community scales to meet needs resulting from the Planning Proposal.

HillPDA also identified several additional social infrastructure opportunities, including the expansion of a community centre; the dedication of space for a co-working or study space; and the use of active transport as a means of increasing accessibility.

Overall, HillPDA provided a comprehensive assessment that was able to accompany Campbelltown Council’s future planning endeavours.
