Tamworth LGA
Employment lands strategy
HillPDA was commissioned by Tamworth Regional Council to undertake a review of the commercial centres and employment lands in the Tamworth Local Government Area (LGA). This review included an analysis of recent market trends and drivers, identifying capacity and supply constraints, and projecting future land requirements to accommodate additional growth.
Our value add
Tamworth’s population is expected to increase significantly from 60,000 to 100,000 by 2041 combined with growth in base industry jobs in food manufacturing, transport and other related businesses. HillPDA was able to quantify the floor space and land area requirements, assess the capacity of existing areas to accommodate growth and recommend new areas for expansion.
Outcome
HillPDA provided a recommended retail hierarchy and a forecast demand for retail and other commercial space for each centre. Included in the hierarchy were three proposed new centres to meet urban expansion.
HillPDA was able to confirm the amount of developable zoned industrial and business development lands was sufficient to meet growth in demand of around 210 hectares by Year 2041.
